La Rousse has a more pronounced hop profile than many of its contemporaries, and AFAIK doesn't screw around by adding sugar or spices like some of its fumbling competition. Its really well worth getting a taste for Biere de Garde when on holiday in france. Its usually easy to get in shops, from various breweries.
