No, we'll never see this in spoons, but I hope we see more Sixpoint available in the UK in the future.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12362693914759656245noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7475885845704210397.post-32042599248484590662014-05-17T10:24:51.646+01:002014-05-17T10:24:51.646+01:00Great blog - as always. It's not the best but it's not the worst either.

The introduction of Six Point is a great edition for 'spoons they're not extreme flavours but they are big flavours. I mentioned in my recent Bengali review that these are "gateway beers". The first step for someone or not on their hop adventure. The Hi-Res is probably something a little too extreme for 'spoons. They need to move this stuff and also not come under attack for selling an 11% beer. As a big chain they'll always be be walking the responsible drinking type rope. The positive is that they bought big and can sell cheap, especially with their ridiculous margins but it also means other beer shops/pubs don't have access to it.

I don't think a product like that would be abused over here for two reasons. Firstly, it would be expensive, fair enough they're selling Bengali Tiger for two quid but Hi-Res will have a significantly higher cost and would be sold for much more. Secondly really bitter, complex beer like this is an acquired taste, especially with all those IBU's, it definitely wouldn't appeal to those who wanted to get loaded on the cheap.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12362693914759656245noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7475885845704210397.post-38396500533619783152014-05-10T20:22:32.160+01:002014-05-10T20:22:32.160+01:00As much as I love the idea of their beer being wid...As much as I love the idea of their beer being widely available, there are two problems here for me. The first is that it means I'm going to have to go into a bloody Wetherspoons to get the stuff (and I'm still not seeing it widely available in beer shops), the second is that I'm worried that the lovely 11.1% nectar will be abused and used as crazy man special brew, or used by students in the way that they neck those ridiculous energy drinks. Sometimes, exposure can be over-rated. On balance though, I can't be too aggrieved, Bengali Tiger is a wicked beer. Great blog post.
